Lynn Selwood director 3 to 6 musicians: voice, continuo and obbligato or instrumental chamber group

Lynn Selwood has been directing A Drop in the Ocean since 2002, and is in increasing demand as a workshop leader for amateur groups. Recitals involve various combinations, most often a solo voice with continuo and obbligato violin, flute or oboe, where each member of the group is featured. Performances are of the highest quality, very well-informed on the chosen theme (examples below) but never bookish! On the contrary, A Drop in the Ocean puts on a beautiful and exciting show, bringing the Baroque Masters to life. Guaranteed to entertain and delight modern audiences, from the casual listener to the most avid early music enthusiast.

Cantatas and Sonatas of the 18th Century: Stanley As Delia blest with ev’ry grace, Boismortier Cello Sonata, Couperin Pièces de Clavecin, Monteclair Le Triomphe de L’Amour, Telemann Moralische Cantaten, JS Bach Invention and Sinfonia for harpsichord, Vivaldi Cello Sonata, Scarlatti Clori, vezzosa e bella. This exciting and diverse programme explores and explains the incredible variety of styles prevalent across Europe in the 18th century.

Education:

Workshops for groups of amateur musicians are very exciting and inspiring. Every one gains knowledge, skill and confidence, no matter what their background or abilities, creating a beautiful performance at the end of the day. Suggestions for repertoire or preparation for special projects very welcome. Previous workshops have included Concerti Grossi, Orchestral Suites, cantatas and oratorios.
