Unusual concert programmes, semi-staged projects and musical theatre productions result from the two ensembles’ close and continuing collaboration. The focal point of their concert activities lies in the performance of seldom played works that are frequently not even published. Searching for new forms of presentation, Thomas Hengelbrock conceives staged projects for the Ensemble and Choir - for example, Italian Carnival Music, performed in masks and costumes, and Metamorphoses of Melancholy, a tribute to English musicians and poets of the 17th century that not only called for musical, but also theatrical interpretation from the members of the two ensembles.
