Concanentes has established itself as one of the leading ensembles specialising in music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. During the last decade this award-winning ensemble has performed in the UK’s major festivals and given many recitals across Europe. Programmes are researched with care and performances combine authentic pronunciation of the texts with spontaneous improvisation to evoke a flavour of the times. Concanentes has become known for its English and Spanish programmes with journeys to the 13th century court of Alfonso X through to the music of Henry VIII. New programmes focus on the striking songs of Landini combined with lively instrumental Istanpittas from 14th century Italy, and bawdy and beautiful songs and dances from 13th-14th century England.
Concanentes has performed in a wide variety of venues giving education concerts, workshops and interactive performances to many outreach groups for Live Music Now!, NFMS, Wigmore Hall, Wallace Collection and York Early Music Centre.
