‘Mark Levy’s superb viol consort has the intensity, joyfulness and relaxation of a virtuoso quartet’ Tom Sutcliffe, London Evening Standard ‘. . . quite simply the most sweetly tuned viol consort I have ever heard.’ Richard Morrison, The Times Concordia plays the magical English music of the golden age and a wide range of Renaissance and Baroque repertoire from Italy, Spain, Germany and France, often working with guest artists on other instruments and, above all, the human voice, regular collaborators being Robin Blaze and Michael Chance (countertenor) and the King’s Singers. Perhaps because of the breadth and appeal of its stimulating programming (which also includes new commissions, contemporary dance and poetry), Concordia is now one of the most active British chamber music groups, touring in 2005-06 in Belgium, Germany and Spain. Many of Concordia’s concerts abroad are supported by the British Council while five tours of the UK have been made possible by awards from the Arts Council. Concordia’s CD of the music of Orlando Gibbons, Go from my Window won the coveted Diapason d’Or.
