Donum Musicum was established at the Royal Academy of Music in September 2005 and specializes in performing 18th Century Trio Sonatas as well as other suitable repertoire, including transcriptions and early classical music. Members of the ensemble perform in various instrument configurations within the group and with invited guest artists. In June 2006 Donum Musicum were awarded the prestigious RAM Friends Early Music Prize. The group benefitted from coaching with Historical Perfomance specialists such as Lisa Beznosiuk, Laurence Cummings, Nicolette Moonen and Jenny Ward-Clarke.

Representing four different nations (Finland, Great Britain, Hungary and Poland), the group derives its name in the neutral language of Latin, from the piece with which they won the RAM Friends prize and which was written specifically for their combination of instruments The Musical Offering Trio Sonata by JS Bach.

Baroque Trio Sonatas by Bach, Jommelli, Leclair, Handel, Corelli and others, transcriptions of various works (such as Bach Organ works), Rameau (Pièces de clavecin en concert) etc, with intervening solo & duet movements. Also early classical repertoire with the fortepiano (Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert)

Education:

We are able to provide a presentation of Baroque dances. This includes verbal introduction and commentary, music performance and dance show in collaboration with a solo dancer or a couple dressed in Baroque costumes.
