Eclipse core members draw upon other musicians according to programme and size of venue. These include: Andres Ticino percussion Eligio Quinterio, Mike Fentross theorbo and guitar Clare Norburn soprano Mor Karbasi flamenco/ladino voice Gabriela Rosa flamenco and contemporary dance

Eclipse was formed by Joy Smith and Layil Barr with the concept of creating a fusion between the worlds of early music and other arts. Eclipse’s choice of repertoire has strong links to improvisation and ethnic influences.

This extraordinary international ensemble perform on rarely seen and heard authentic early instruments creating a fusion between the worlds of early and contemporary music and dance. With their extravagant costumes and dramatic staging Eclipse create a feast for the senses. The music, although composed centuries ago, is immensely appealing to modern audiences of all ages with its virtuoso improvisations and compelling story telling.

Eclipse’s members perform as soloists and with different early ensembles, flamenco companies and orchestras such as La Concert des Nations, I Fagiolini, Munich Opera House, Gabrieli Consort and Players, Florilegium, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightment, The King’s Consort, Opera North, Charivari Agréable.
