Gabriela Di Laccio soprano
Brazilian soprano Gabriela Di Laccio was the winner of the Araucaria Foundation Scholarship in 2001, enabling her to further her studies at the Royal College of Music in London, where she gained Post Graduate Diplomas in Early Music and in Performance (Opera). Gabriela has won several singing competitions including the Peter Pears Prize and the Richard III prize. Gabriela is noted for her warm, bright voice, extended upper vocal range, lively coloraturas and also for her expressiveness and powers of communication in her performances. Operatic roles include Adina (L’Elizir d’Amore), Gilda (Rigoletto), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Susana (Le Nozze de Figaro). Gabriela is also an accomplished concert artist. She performs regularly as a solo recitalist and as a member of chamber groups, covering a wide-ranging repertoire from Baroque to contemporary. Recent engagements include a production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo and concerts at the Wigmore Hall with Florilegium and Emma Kirkby. Future engagements include the leading role in Handel’s Acis and Galatea, a solo recital with pianist Linda Ang and performances of Bachianas Brasileiras by Villa-Lobos with orchestra of 8 cellos.
