Fires of Love specialise in innovative programmes of Renaissance and early Baroque chamber music. We focus on lute and guitar song, set among instrumental ensembles and solos. We include familiar masterpieces, new discoveries and our own editions. Our resources include lutes, guitars, archlute and theorbo, woodwind, soprano and baritone voices, and percussion. 2008 is our 10th anniversary. Recently we have explored the extraordinary music of José Marín, who survived duels, prison and the galleys while celebrated as the finest musician in Madrid. In 2008 we release a new disc of 16th century Parisian music from Sermisy to Le Roy. Both programmes are available for concerts.

Bitter Tears of Adrian Le Roy: As 16th century France plunged into Wars of Religion, musicians responded with an outpouring of exquisite music. We highlight songs and instrumentals of Le Roy, virtuoso, composer and publisher, contrasted with the generation of Sermisy.
