Period Instrument ensemble and choir - size ranging from chamber group to large-scale orchestra and chorus
The Gabrieli Consort & Players gained early prominence with mould-breaking reconstructions of music for the great historic occasions of the baroque. Since then, they have captivated audiences with their bold interpretations of a wide range of repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries. The group has become firmly established as leading interpreters of Handel’s oratorios with acclaimed performances and recordings of Messiah, Theodora, Solomon and Saul. Gabrieli have also become known for their vivid and moving readings of the Bach masterworks especially through their single-voice recording of St Matthew Passion. The ensemble’s distinctive style, with its emphasis on communication, coupled with Paul McCreesh’s expertise in authentic performance practice, has given Gabrieli’s music-making a powerful appeal to audiences throughout the world.
