Henry Bicket artistic director
The English Concert is among the world’s leading chamber orchestra, renowned for over 30 years for outstanding interpretations of Baroque and Classical music in concert and on CD. Each season the orchestra presents a prestigious series of concerts in London, at Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall, appearing also at major London festivals, including the BBC Proms, the Spitafields Festival and the Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music. The orchestra tours extensively at home and abroad. In the UK it visits the major summer festivals and has developed a close relationship with St George’s Bristol where it appears each year. Internationally it tours to four continents: since 2005 it has visited the United States, Australia, Korea and Malaysia, in addition to ten European countries. In September 2007 Harry Bicket becomes the third artistic director in the orchestra’s 34-year history, when he opens the new season at Cadogan Hall with a programme of Mozart and Haydn with soprano Rosemary Joshua.
