‘The Etesian Ensemble have an admirable rapport and unanimity of intention, their enthusiasm matched by technical poise and finesse.’ The formation of the Etesian Ensemble brought together five musicians committed to performing the great wealth of chamber music from the classical and romantic periods for fortepiano and winds. Performances of this exciting repertoire are rarely heard on today’s concert platform, therefore The Etesian Ensemble set out to bring their vibrant, explorative performances of such works to a wider audience. The ensemble presents established classics such as the exquisite Mozart Quintet for Fortepiano and Winds, which Mozart himself described as ‘the best thing I have ever written in my life’, alongside recently discovered, obscure and sadly neglected works that deserve the attention of today’s audience. ‘Superb period performance by the youthful Etesian Ensemble. The sound world they communicate is far from dry and academic, but a pulsating expressive recreation of early music.’
Sample Programme:
A typical programme will include two quintets (such as Mozart, Beethoven, Danzi, Pleyel, Lannoy, Witt), a smaller chamber work and either a solo piano work or an instrumental sonata. Harmoniemusik programmes, lieder programmes and larger string and wind programmes frequently performed.
Education:
The Etesian Ensemble are able to offer concerts for all ages, lecture recitals and pre-concert talks. ‘The children’s concert was just right. You had obviously given it a lot of thought. We are very grateful to you for your willingness to put in that extra effort to encourage and interest tomorrow’s classical music fans.’ Elmbridge Music Club
