The Flautadors recorder quartet is firmly established as one of the UK’s leading recorder ensembles. British performances include York, Stratford-on-Avon and Greenwich Festivals, London’s Purcell Room and Wigmore Hall.
International appearances have taken them across Europe from Belarus to Ireland. The quartet has become a favourite on Classic FM, has appeared on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune and was praised by International Record Review: ‘The Flautadors play with elegance and skill. Their ensemble is excellent.’ Known for diverse and colourful programmes, The Flautadors’ repertoire spans 800 years from medieval polyphony through to modern works. Since its formation, the quartet has taken a particular interest in the promotion of British music with research into the history of the recorder consort in 16th and 17th century Scotland and England, and the revival of the instrument in the 20th century. Educational projects, new arrangements and commissions form an important part of the group’s work.
