Peter Wilton director Brian Tinsey, Bill Day bass Grey Macartney tenor
The Gregorian Association has for over one hundred years sung and taught plainsong as a living witness to the enduring value and beauty of the true music of the church under such inspiring directors of music as Sir John Stainer, Francis Burgess, Arthur Clarke and Prof. David Hiley. The Association seeks to spread the knowledge of the vast treasury of Gregorian chant and to encourage its use in parish churches with modern texts for the enrichment of public worship. It aims to demonstrate its versatility for small numbers of singers, and gives guidance in sight reading of square notation and the interpretation of early music notation. To this end, it conducts both day workshops and regular evening classes. The Association is a registered charity and is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music.
