Renowned for their interpretations of 18th and early 19th century repertoire, The Music Collection, the chamber ensemble that focuses around the fortepiano, continues to delight audiences throughout the world. Founded by the fortepianist, Susan Alexander-Max, The Music Collection has performed, taught and recorded in some the world’s most prestigious festivals and venues and can be heard regularly at the major London concert halls, such as the Wigmore Hall. They have also been Musicians in Residence at the Harley Gallery, Nottinghamshire, the National Gallery of Wales, Cardiff and Renishaw Hall, Derbyshire, giving series of concerts and masterclasses. Their first recording in the series of Chamber Music by Hummel received top ratings in BBC Music Magazine and outstanding reviews worldwide. The second CD in this series achieved BBC CD recommendation of the month as well as top ratings in BBC Music Magazine, and great critical acclaim throughout the world. Their recording of the JC Bach Keyboard Concerti will be released shortly.

The Music Collection is a flexible chamber ensemble, programmes range from solo fortepiano and/or clavichord to quintets. Repertoire includes: Trios for fortepiano, violin and cello, Mozart Concerti for fortepiano and string quartet, JC Bach Concerti for fortepiano and single strings, Sonatas for violin and fortepiano, Sonatas for cello and fortepiano, Quartets and Quintets for fortepiano and strings.

Education:

The Music Collection gives masterclasses, educational workshops and lecture recitals in universities, music schools and educational institutions throughout the world. They have also established a Music in Schools project.
