Lindsay Richardson mezzo-soprano
Lindsay Richardson performs with a range of early-music ensembles, and for festivals, choirs and music societies, including Monteverdi’s Vespers in Gloucester Cathedral, Bach’s St John Passion at St James Piccadilly and Bach’s B Minor Mass at St. Giles Cripplegate. This year she made her first USA performance of Bach and Vivaldi arias and duets in Reno, Nevada. Her dramatic roles include Fortuna and Ottavia in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppaea, Mary in Visitatio Sepulchri and Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas as well as acting roles, and a wide variety of oratorio and recital programmes. A founder member of Vox Animae, she has played the role of Chastity in Ordo Virtutum for audiences internationally. Her expressive voice and wide vocal range enable her to perform music from the medieval through to baroque periods, and romantic through to contemporary repertoire. She maintains a particular interest in music by composers such as Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre and Francesca Caccini, having been artistic director for Opera Francesca’s premier production of La Liberazione di Ruggero dall’Isola d’Alcina at St John’s, Smith Square.
