PAL.IMP.SEST [‘palimp, sest]; a manuscript or piece of written material on which the original writing has been effaced to make way for later writing but of which traces remain.
These experienced and versatile performers singing, dancing and playing bring their vitality to the music of the past. With attention to the mode of performance for early music, taking inspiration from then whilst doing it now and reading between the lines of the music and dance theories. We are all just men, then and now.
Sample Programme:
A Christmas Fandango: In Mexico the Fandango is an event, a place to meet, play and dance, a celebration and an excuse for a fiesta. In one evening we will play and party with the traditions of mid-winter, from the breadth of Europe - before central heating - with music by famous and not so famous composers who wrote in the 16th and 17th centuries, evoking the frosty celebrations and the New World settlers in the tropical warmth of a Fandango old and new.
