Bringing together three of the UK’s leading medieval musicians, Pastorella aims to bring medieval music to life in a way that makes it real and relevant to 21st century audiences. The members of Pastorella have performed together on many occasions and they play with some of the UK’s leading early music groups, including Musicians of the Globe, Tintagel, Fontanella, Social Musick and Mediva. They are known for their lively approach and their ability to bring medieval music to life. In particular, the performers of Pastorella talk to the audience about their instruments and the background of the music in an informative and down to earth way.
Sample Programme:
La Rabardie! brings to life the highly emotional and lively world of the 12th and 13th century troubadours and trouvères. Presented in an informative and imaginative way, the programme includes rousing dances and heart-felt love songs.
Education:
The members of Pastorella are experienced at leading workshops for adults and children of all ages. They recently led a 3 day ‘Introduction to Medieval Music’ course in Italy for adults, which concluded with a performance with the participants.
