From £800 | Renaissance/Baroque |
Kyoko Murai soprano Maria Sanger recorder Amanda Seaborn viola da gamba Alison Bowler harpsichord
Since Pellegrina was formed in 2002, the enjoyment they have had in working together has been reflected in the warmth of audience responses to their engaging, expressive and elegant performances. The ensemble’s varied and colourful repertoire encompasses instrumental and vocal works from the renaissance to the late baroque, ranging from music from the celebrated Florentine Intermedi of 1589 - which inspired Pellegrina’s name - to works by Bach, Handel and Pepusch. Pellegrina have a particular interest in well-loved and lesser-known works by late 17th and early 18th century composers living and working in London, and have found programmes of this repertoire of ‘English’ music to be ideally suited to the intimate and atmospheric spaces of historic houses such as the Handel House and Fenton House in London. Other venues have included St Martin-in-the-Fields, St Giles-in-the-Fields and Chenies Manor House.
