Highlights over a number of years include a Channel 4 programme about Bach performing Bach’s Ascension Oratorio. YBC is a regular visitor to UK festivals including Beverley Early Music Festival, Swaledale and Ryedale as well as York Early Music Festival and Northern Aldeborough Festival and has also appeared in France, Germany and Czech Republic. Most recently YBC appeared at Leipzig Bach Festival (2007), performing Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Bach motets.
BBC and WDR broadcasts include Biber Missa Alleluia, Bach’s cantatas for the Feast of St Michael and Haydn’s Theresienmesse. The choir’s latest commercial recordings include Psalms and motets by Victoria (2002), Monteverdi Vespers (2004), music of the Bach family (2006).
Next season includes Purcell King Arthur; Monteverdi Vespers; Bach Christmas Oratorio and St John Passion; a programme of Mexican Renaissance repertoire; and comparative settings of psalm texts by a variety of composers.
