A flexible group varying in size from chamber to orchestral. Available also with Yorkshire Bach Choir. Fees quoted for specific programmes or programmes designed to fit promoter’s budget. YBS has, for the last 20 years, formed the basis of baroque and classical parts of the York Early Music Festival and has recorded regularly for BBC and WDR. Particular areas of specialisation include restoration England, 18th century England (Handel) and Germany (Bach); also Classical (Mozart, Haydn, CPE Bach) and early Lieder (Haydn, Mozart, CPE Bach, Zelter, Schubert). In September 1999 YBS gave a live EBU broadcast of music by John Blow.
In June 2007, YBS appeared in Leipzig Bach Festival, performing Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and newly edited odes by Blow and Daniel Purcell.
