For over 20 years Café Mozart has delighted specialist and non-specialist audiences alike with a unique blend of late 18th century vocal and instrumental music, some light, some serious, all of it attractive and typical of what appealed to players and listeners 200 years ago. Café Mozart prefers to play in an informal ambience, if possible with the audience sitting round tables, with food and drink to hand. But we are just as happy to play in conventional surroundings or at receptions. We have been heard in venues of all shapes and sizes: a Bishop’s Palace, an Ambassador’s residence, a seaside Ballroom, a riverside marquee, not to mention numerous village halls. Haydn’s English output features in most programmes, coupled to that of William Shield and the eccentric Earl of Abingdon, whose songs and country dances have proved absolute winners at home and abroad.
Sample Programme:
Mozart and Haydn - The Alternatives: (Divertimentos by Joseph’s younger brother and Wolfgang Amadeus’ father, together with works by their more famous relatives)
