The Cardinall’s Musick ‘the brightest and boldest of Britain’s early music choirs’ The Independent can ‘make music out of a John Prescott speech’ The Telegraph, ‘start a blaze in the Antarctic’ The Times and are ‘as overwhelming as a Mahler symphony’ The Telegraph. We specialise in presenting concerts where fascinating music is put together in carefully themed programmes. Often based around historical subjects, this allows the audience an extra insight into the music of the period. The group’s repertoire ranges from a complete reconstruction of a mass for Henry VIII to first performances of music by Judith Weir, Matthew Martin and Michael Finnissey. Known for their emotional directness, the singers are encouraged to project their own musical individuality whilst still being part of the team and Andrew Carwood’s witty and informative concert narrations have become a popular feature. Excellence, education and enjoyment are at the centre of our work.
