This Gramophone award winning vocal group has established a reputation over the last decade as one of the foremost interpreters of pre-Baroque vocal music. The group has won numerous plaudits, has performed in most of the UK’s main concert halls and has toured extensively in Europe and the United States. The group has now released over 20 CDs and their landmark recordings of composers such as Josquin, Ockeghem and Obrecht have earned them 13 *** ratings and one rosette in the Penguin Good CD Guide.
Recent projects have included an innovatory re-working of the medieval liturgical drama The Play of Daniel and a multi-media presentation based on the 14th century satirical poem Roman de Fauvel.
Sample Programme:
In Memoria: A collage of music and reminiscence on the themes of death and remembrance. This one-hour programme includes works from the first ever polyphonic settings of the Requiem mass by Ockeghem, Brumel and Pierre de la Rue.
Education:
The Play of Daniel: A Medieval Pageant. The Clerks’ production is a participatory event in which local adults and children can work with professional singers and directors to create lively processions and striking tableaux.
