The Song Company is committed to being a vocal ensemble of the highest artistic quality providing inspiration to audiences everywhere through the standard of performances and innovative programmes. The Song Company is one of the world’s leading vocal ensembles performing to audiences throughout Australia and overseas. Programmes range from early music, through polyphonic and baroque music to contemporary art music, cabaret, a fully developed music education programme for school children, workshops and programmes of specially commissioned contemporary vocal works. The Company gives approximately 130 performances each year and annually travel overseas for prestigious music festivals.

As Australia’s only full time professional vocal ensemble, the Song Company includes highly experienced singers, led by internationally acclaimed Artistic Director, Roland Peelman.

Free as a Bird: Recent programme performed in many Australian centres featuring leading recorder player Genevieve Lacey and incorporating old and new songs relating to bird song, several specially commissioned by Australian composers.

Education:

The Song Company has a long-standing commitment to education through workshops, performances and masterclasses given in primary and secondary schools in Australia and abroad. A new programme based on 1000 years of singing has been developed called The Story of A Cappella. The Song Company can perform this programme anywhere in the world.
